K MEREDITH LEAR-PERKINS,

Meredith Lear, M.F.A., Associate Chair of Foundations and Painting, Savannah College of Art and Design Hong Kong 

Meredith is a conceptual artist who works in a variety of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation. Working in series, her work addresses a variety of issues including our digital world, privacy, racism, and disconnection. Meredith received her BFA in Illustration (2009) and MFA in Painting (2012), both from the Savannah College of Art and Design, graduating Summa Cum-Laude. She has currently been teaching art at the university level for over 5 years, beginning her career at Albany State University and continuing on at the Savannah College of Art and Design Hong Kong. She has taught a variety of courses in drawing, design, and fine art. In 2016, Lear was invited for a visiting artist lecture at Darton State College and was a consultant for Proctor and Gamble in Albany, Georgia earlier that year. She acted as the Interim Executive Director of the Albany Area Arts Council in 2014. Lear also worked with artist, Larry Jens Anderson, as a CALL Legacy Specialist for Space One Eleven in Birmingham, Alabama.  That same year she was nominated for the Joan Mitchell Foundation’s Master of Fine Arts Grant Program and SCAD’s Excelsus Laureate. Lear also completed a six-month internship at Solomon Projects gallery in Atlanta, Georgia in 2011. She currently lives and works in Hong Kong.
